Public Boat Ramp Access Information during BBR

No spectator boat trailers are allowed to be stored at NBYC. If you are planning on launching a spectator boat, you must use the public boat ramp at Apponagansett Landing.

The Apponagansett Launch ramp and parking lot is open to all, resident or not. The policy is simply this: There is a $5.00 per calendar day fee for launching, parking, or both. There is a bright orange metal box on a 4′ orange pole immediately adjacent to the north ramp (next to the light pole). For those wishing to use the ramp to launch, retrieve and/or park, they need to take a daily pass envelope from the left side of the box. They fill out about 6 pieces of information (car plate, trailer plate, boat registration (if any), date and number of days paid for), seal in the correct $ and deposit into a locked slot on the right side of the same box. This should be done prior to using the ramp.

Cars with trailers must use the longer parking spaces in the center and south side of the lot. Cars without trailers must use the shorter spaces that are adjacent to the water’s edge.

Non-paying users of the facility (launching or parking) are left a $45.00 (at current rate) parking ticket and those parked outside of marked spaces are towed commercially through Dartmouth PD. That causes much grief since towing companies separate trailers from vehicles and tow each separately, usually to remote lots that can’t be accessed late Sunday afternoon. Parking is only allowed within marked spaces (not on, or alongside the curbed islands). If the lot is full, “overflow” parking for vehicles with trailers is allowed on the WEST side of West Smith Neck Road using the same permit envelop and box. Overflow parking for vehicles without trailers is allowed at Apponagansett beach. The Park Department does not allow overnight overflow parking at Apponagansett Beach. Overnight parking at the Landing is allowed, but entering before midnight and remaining into the next day does require two day pass fees (can be combined in one envelop).
