If Launching from the Town Landing:
The Apponagansett Launch ramp and parking lot is open to all. The policy is as follows:
· $5.00 per calendar day fee for launching, parking, or both.
· Locate the bright orange metal box on a 4' orange pole immediately adjacent to the north ramp (next to the light pole).
· Take a daily pass envelope from the left side of the box.
· Fill out the requested information (car plate, trailer plate, boat registration (if any), date and number of days paid for),
· Seal in the correct amount
· Deposit into a locked slot on the right side of the same box.
· This should be done prior to using the ramp.
Important information to understand when using the Apponagansett Launch Ramp.
· Cars with trailers must use the longer parking spaces in the center and south side of the lot.
· Cars without trailers must use the shorter spaces that are adjacent to the water's edge.
· TRAILERS MAY NOT BE LEFT UNATTACHED FROM THEIR TOWING VEHICLE.
· This is a public access point.
· Insurance is required for use, and trailers are covered only under the insurance of their towing vehicle.
· Unattended, unattached trailers (with or without boats) must be towed at the owner’s expense.
· Boaters cannot leave their trailer/boat at the landing to hold a spot while the towing vehicle drives back to the Club for registration or otherwise.
· Non-payment for launching or parking results in a $45.00 parking ticket and those parked outside of marked spaces or unattached to a vehicle are towed commercially through Dartmouth PD.
· Towing companies separate trailers from vehicles and tow each separately, usually to remote lots that can't be accessed late Sunday afternoons.
· Parking is only allowed within marked spaces (not on, or alongside the curbed islands).
· If the lot is full, "overflow" parking for vehicles with trailers is allowed on the WEST side of West Smith Neck Road using the same permit envelop and box.
· Overflow parking for vehicles without a trailer is allowed at Apponagansett beach with a landing one-day permit.
· The Park Department does not allow overnight parking at Apponagansett Beach, and trailers are towed from the beach side.
· Overnight parking at the Landing is allowed, but entering before midnight and remaining into the next day requires two day-pass fees (can be combined in one envelope).
· There is a first-come, first on the ramp "code" of the trailer boater.
· The lot is not patrolled 100% of the time. Town police may make routine passes through, but by no means is it a "safe" place to leave any items that would be attractive to a thief.
· No vehicles may be occupied while parked overnight (no camping in any sense of the word).
