C420 Launch and Haul

Overview
Launching for the C420 fleet will occur daily from Community Boating Center main facility at 1641 Padanaram Ave in New Bedford.  Security will be provided during the overnight Thursday, Friday and Saturday to minimize risks of overnight vandalism or theft of equipment at CBC. Storage of boats or any personal property is entirely at the owner’s risk.  Showers will NOT be available at CBC.

Procedure:

Arrival on Thursday Afternoon:
Check in at the CBC Registration Tent between 1600 – 2030.  No boat or vehicle parking at CBC before Thursday unless arranged before hand with CBC.  CBC will be offering these services but arrangements need to be made in advance.

Arrival on Friday Morning:

Check-in with registration at the registration tent at CBC Friday from 0700 – 0800 unless checked-in on Thursday.
Drop off boat and dolly at designated area.

Mid-Regatta End of Day Departure:
Return boat to designated area for night storage.

End of Regatta Departure:
De-rig and secure all equipment.
Return to site with vehicle, and pick up boat and gear for final departure.  VEHICLES WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE PARKING LOT ONLY IF BOAT IS READY TO GO.
The awards ceremony for 420s will take place at CBC immediately following racing and scoring.
Everyone is encouraged to attend all social events at Beverly Yacht Club in Marion after racing.

420 Spectator & Coach Boat Launch and Haul:
Launching of all powerboats can be done at the West Rodney French Blvd. boat ramp located just across the cove from CBC.  Parking is very limited there and does require payment if leaving your vehicle and trailer there.  Do not leave any trailers there without a vehicle attached to it or overnight.  Boat ramp is located at the corner of Coral Street and West Rodney French Blvd.  CBC will have moorings available for powerboats but will need to be arranged before the event due to limited numbers of moorings available to use, please contact them to arrange them at (508)992-6219.  CBC will not be able to store empty powerboat trailers.

420 Offsite Parking
In order to minimize the number of cars parking on the side streets around CBC, we have secured an offsite parking lot at a local elementary school approximately 5 minutes from the boat storage area.  Parking will be at the located at the Joseph De Mello Elementary School at 654 Dartmouth Street in Dartmouth MA.  BBR will be providing shuttle service from the school to CBC Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  In the morning the shuttle will run from 7:30 am to approximately 10am.  The afternoon shuttle will start half hour after sailing and run for approximately 2 hours.  We encourage people staying for the entire day to use the offsite parking lot.  If parking on a side street please do not block any driveways and be courteous to our neighbors.  In the event your car has been towed please contact New Bedford Police at (508) 991-6300 or Dartmouth Police at (508) 910-1700. 
BBR OR CBC IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY PARKING TICKETS OR TOWING CHARGES.  Cars and trailers will be towed if left overnight.  ALL CARS MUST BE REMOVED BY 7PM.


CBC Rules
1.    No Overnight Parking at CBC or the offsite parking lot
2.    No Smoking or Alcohol allowed on CBC or Town of Dartmouth properties including the boat storage area and offsite parking area.
3.    Security will be provided overnight, however, BBR and/or CBC will not be reliable for any stolen or damaged property.
4.    Misbehavior or behavior considered inappropriate by any BBR or CBC official my result in immediate expulsion from the BBR Regatta.
5.    Lifejackets must be worn at all times when on CBC’s dock.

By Land:
  • From Route 195 (East or West), take exit 15, Route 18 South,“Downtown New Bedford”.
  • MA-18 S becomes Kennedy Memorial Hwy.  (go 1.48 miles)
  • Turn right onto Cove St.
          - Cove St is 0.4 miles past Potomska St
          - Howland Green Library is on the corner
          - If you are on Rodney French Blvd and reach Welcome St you've gone a little             too far (go 0.15 miles)
  • Turn left onto County St.  (go 0.1 miles)
  • Turn right onto Cove Rd.  (go 0.42 miles)
  • Turn slight left to stay on Cove Rd.
          - Cove Rd is 0.1 miles past Bonney St
          - If you are on Rockdale Ave and reach Bolton St you've gone about 0.1 miles too far (go 0.07 miles)
  • Turn slight left onto Padanaram Ave.  (go 0.3 miles)
  • 1641 PADANARAM AVE is on the right.
          - Your destination is just past Norwell St
          - If you reach Rogers St you've gone a little too far (go 0 miles)
