Beginning August 2, 2012 approximately 400 boats and 1200 sailors from across the U.S. and Canada will begin arriving in Marion to participate in the 40th edition of the Buzzards Bay Regatta.
Sponsored by the Beverly, New Bedford, Mattapoisett and Low Tide Yacht Clubs, the BBR is the largest multi-class regatta in the United States, featuring over 12 classes of boats from Lasers to classics yachts and 50′+ racing machines. Buzzards Bay is known for its challenging conditions, world class race management and warm hospitality. BBR 2012 promises to be one of the top sailing regattas in the U.S. in 2012. Registration begins on Thursday August 2, and racing will run from Friday through Sunday.
